The Latvian National Pizza Masters Competition recognizes top pizzaiolos to promote culinary skills in Latvia.
The Latvian National Pizza Masters Competition, held for the second consecutive year, aims to enhance the skills of pizzaiolos, or pizza makers, in Latvia. Organized by the Latvian Chefs' Club and food expert Reaton Food, the competition saw participation from 19 master pizza makers who showcased their talents by preparing two types of pizzas: the classic Pizza Margherita and Pizza on the Peel.
Jose Angel Bermudez Gil from Bella Napoli won first place, followed by Raivis Dembovskis from Frego Pizza in second, and Elvis Švītiņš from Stacija Vaivari in third. A professional jury judged the pizzas based on taste, cooking quality, and the organization and cleanliness of the workspace, emphasizing the importance of both culinary excellence and presentation in the competitive environment.
This event highlights the emergence of a new tradition within Latvian gastronomy, fostering healthy competition and professional growth among chefs. The commitment to showcasing authentic pizza-making practices is seen as a significant step towards improving the food culture in Latvia, as well as encouraging more culinary competitions in the future.
