Calamity Withdrawal from FGTS is available in three cities in Zona da Mata affected by floods; learn how to request

Residents of Juiz de Fora, Matias Barbosa, and Ubá can now request a Calamity Withdrawal from their FGTS due to recent floods.

In response to the severe flooding in the cities of Juiz de Fora, Matias Barbosa, and Ubá, which has been described as one of the worst in their history, the Brazilian government has enabled access to the Calamity Withdrawal from the FGTS (Fundo de Garantia do Tempo de Serviço). Residents can apply for this assistance through the FGTS app until March 18. Under this provision, individuals may withdraw up to R$6,220 from their accounts, based on the available balance, to help alleviate their urgent financial needs following natural disasters that have impacted their homes.

The Caixa Econômica Federal outlines that this withdrawal option is specifically designed for cases where individuals are facing personal, urgent, and grave needs due to natural disasters, with formal recognition from the municipal Civil Defense required. Eligible applicants must not have made a withdrawal for the same reason in the last 12 months and must have sufficient funds in their FGTS accounts. This program aims to provide rapid financial relief to those affected by the calamity, enabling them to rebuild and recover more swiftly.

To access the Calamity Withdrawal, residents are instructed to download the FGTS app, log in using their credentials, and follow the prompts for the withdrawal process. With the deadline set for March 18, it is crucial for impacted residents to take timely action to secure their funds and begin the recovery process from the devastating effects of the floods.
