Withdrawal of FGTS due to calamity is released after rains in Noroeste Fluminense; see who is entitled

Residents in the Noroeste Fluminense region of Brazil affected by recent heavy rains can now request withdrawals from the FGTS for disaster relief.

Residents of cities in the Noroeste Fluminense region of Brazil that were impacted by recent heavy rainfall can now access funds from the Fundo de Garantia do Tempo de Serviço (FGTS) due to the calamity. This initiative aims to help families recover and restructure following the damages caused by severe weather conditions. Specifically, residents from the municipalities of Aperibé, Natividade, Porciúncula, and Itaperuna are eligible to apply for this benefit.

The application process for these withdrawals is entirely digital, allowing individuals to use the official FGTS application without needing to visit a physical branch of Caixa Econômica Federal. Eligible workers can withdraw up to R$ 6,220 per linked account, provided they have sufficient balance. Importantly, workers may only access this benefit if they have not withdrawn funds for the same reason in the past 12 months, ensuring the support targets those currently in need of financial assistance.

The deadlines for applications are staggered depending on the municipality, with Aperibé and Natividade accepting requests until June 11, while Porciúncula has a deadline of May 24. To complete the application, individuals must submit necessary documents such as identification and proof of residence, facilitating a streamlined process for those affected by the recent calamities to gain access to necessary financial support.
