Caixa releases Calamity Withdrawal of FGTS for residents of Cantagalo and São Sebastião do Alto
Caixa Econômica Federal has announced the release of the Calamity Withdrawal from the FGTS for residents affected by recent flooding in Cantagalo and São Sebastião do Alto, Brazil.
Caixa Econômica Federal has announced the activation of the Calamity Withdrawal from the Worker’s Guarantee Fund (FGTS) for residents of the municipalities of Cantagalo and São Sebastião do Alto in Rio de Janeiro's mountainous region. This decision comes in the wake of heavy rainfall that led both cities to declare a state of emergency in early February. The emergency status allows residents to access special financial resources to aid in recovery efforts following the severe weather events.
As of now, the Ministry of Integration and Regional Development, through the National Civil Defense, has officially recognized the emergency situation in these municipalities. This federal recognition is crucial as it enables affected individuals to utilize certain resources and benefits, including the calamity public withdrawal from the FGTS. The maximum withdrawal amount available to residents is R$ 6,220 per linked account, but it is limited to the available balance of the worker’s account.
To qualify for this withdrawal, residents must file their requests by May 19 of this year. The process highlights the government's response to assist individuals affected by natural disasters, emphasizing the importance of access to timely financial support in the aftermath of such events. This release of funds aims to provide immediate relief and facilitate the recovery of affected communities in Cantagalo and São Sebastião do Alto.
