Emergency Withdrawal from FGTS is released for residents of 17 cities in the region; see the list
Residents of 17 cities affected by severe rain in Brazil are now eligible for an emergency withdrawal from the FGTS fund to assist with damages.
The Caixa Econômica Federal has authorized the Emergency Withdrawal for residents in 17 cities across the Vales de Minas region due to the recent destructive rains in the area. This financial support allows individuals affected by the calamity to draw funds from their FGTS accounts, potentially alleviating some of the financial burdens caused by property damage and loss after the heavy rainfall. The initiative aims to provide urgent relief to those most impacted, ensuring that aid reaches the communities that need it most.
To be eligible for the emergency withdrawal, residents must have a balance in their FGTS account and must not have previously withdrawn for the same reason in less than 12 months. The maximum amount that can be withdrawn is R$ 6,220 per linked account, limited to the available balance. The initiative is aimed specifically at residents of areas designated by the Civil Defense as having been affected by the severe weather, ensuring that the help is directed towards those in greatest need.
Individuals wishing to apply for the withdrawal can do so through the FGTS app. The application process involves entering personal data, selecting the option to request a withdrawal under the 'Public Calamity' menu, and specifying the affected municipality. As the process is fully digital, it allows for a quicker response and access to funds for residents needing immediate financial assistance following the natural disaster. The swift action from Caixa Econômica Federal highlights the government's commitment to supporting its citizens during times of crisis.
