Alarm at the Sanatorium in Birštonas Due to a Burning Fan
Emergency services responded to a report of smoke in a bathroom at the sanatorium in Birštonas, where a fan had burned but was extinguished without injuries reported.
An alarm was raised at a sanatorium in Birštonas, Lithuania, when a report was made around 00:20 about smoke emanating from a bathroom on the second floor of the building. Firefighters arrived to discover that a fan had caught fire in one of the patient rooms. Fortunately, the fire extinguished itself, and the electrical wires were disconnected, minimizing potential harm. The room was slightly smoke-affected, prompting ventilation but no further damage was noted.
Prior to the firefighters' arrival, staff members had already escorted one individual from the affected room into the corridor for safety. Upon assessing the situation, firefighters instructed this person and two other staff members to move into unaffected areas of the building, ensuring their safety. An important note was that no evacuation was necessary for other areas of the four-story building as no additional smoke was detected.
At the time of the incident, there were 70 individuals in the building, including 17 on the second floor where the incident occurred. The sanatorium is equipped with a fire alarm system, which likely contributed to the prompt response and management of the situation without any reported injuries.
