Alarm in Birštonas Senate due to burning fan

A fire alarm was triggered in a Birštonas building when a fan in a bathroom burned, but no significant danger was posed to the occupants.

In the early hours, emergency services were alerted to a fire incident on the second floor of a building in Birštonas, where smoke was reported in the corridors. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that a fan in a bathroom had caught fire but extinguished itself without causing extensive damage. Electric wires were disconnected to eliminate any further risk, and the area was ventilated using positive pressure fans.

Prior to the fire department's arrival, the staff had managed to safely escort one individual from the affected area into the corridor. When firefighters arrived, they directed this person and two employees to relocate to safer areas within the building. Fortunately, there was no need for a larger evacuation of the building since it houses a total of 70 people with only 17 on the second floor, and no more smoke was detected after checking all four floors.

The building, housing a total of 70 occupants at the time of the incident, is equipped with a fire alarm system that functioned properly. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported, and the situation was contained effectively by the responders and staff. The incident highlights the importance of timely emergency response and appropriate safety measures in such facilities.
