Sogang University’s Art & Technology Department honored honorary chairman Shin Young-kyun with a plaque and a dedication film during a special event.
Sogang University's Art & Technology Department recently held a meaningful event to honor Shin Young-kyun, the honorary chairman of the Shin Young-kyun Arts and Culture Foundation, by presenting him with an honorary plaque and the dedication film 'Behind the Scene.' The event, held in Myeong-dong, Seoul, was attended by key figures including Shin and other notable guests from Hanju Holdings Korea and JIBS. The department faculty members and student representatives expressed their appreciation towards Shin's significant contributions to the department over the years.
Shin Young-kyun made a substantial impact on the Sogang University Art & Technology Department by donating 1 billion KRW to establish a foundation for education and research. His 2012 donation led to the creation of the 'Shin Young-kyun Studio,' a space that continues to foster creativity among students. Furthermore, the Shin Young-kyun Scholarship has supported numerous students in engaging in overseas exploration programs and creative activities, thereby broadening their horizons and strengthening their academic and research skills.
The dedication film 'Behind the Scene' features the development of the department and showcases students' research and overseas activities, using Shin's iconic work, 'The Red Scarf,' as a thematic backdrop. This initiative reflects the ongoing collaboration between art and technology at Sogang University, aiming to cultivate future students capable of seeking innovative solutions and contributing positively to society through their work.
