Sejong University Art Club Holds Group Exhibition 'And, Draw'
Sejong University's art club is hosting a group exhibition titled 'And, Draw' alongside a solo exhibition by Professor Lee Gyu-ok from the Media Communication Department, showcasing artworks that capture emotions and natural landscapes.
Sejong University, led by President Eom Jong-hwa, is hosting an art exhibition from February 23 to March 7 at Gallery PaL in Apgujeong-dong. The main event features a group exhibition titled 'And, Draw,' organized by the university's art club alongside a solo exhibition by Professor Lee Gyu-ok of the Media Communication Department. The art club began in 2011 when faculty members, despite different academic backgrounds, came together to explore the realm of painting, transforming their life experiences into artistic expression.
Now in its fourth exhibition, 'And, Draw' highlights the themes of repetition and accumulation in the act of painting. The showcased artworks reflect personal impressions of nature, emotions, and moments imprinted in memory, offering unique perspectives and artistic languages that reveal the depth of thought and individuality of each participating artist. Professor Lee Kang-hwa from the Department of Painting has guided the club members through various stages of their creative process, ensuring they develop their techniques and finalize their artworks.
The exhibition serves as a significant milestone to showcase the accumulated efforts and achievements of the artists, bringing their works together for public viewing. Ten artists, including figures from various academic disciplines like Business Administration, Chinese Trade, and Computer Science, are participating in the event. Concurrently, Professor Lee Gyu-ok is holding her solo exhibition titled 'Episodic Moments,' where she portrays ephemeral yet unforgettable moments of sensory experiences, using flora and natural scenery as her primary motifs, demonstrating the intersection of memories with artistic creation.
