In a strategic move demonstrating the combination of a new fleet, Chinese financing, and long-term leasing arrangements, Top Ships Inc. and Rubico Inc., associated with Evangelos Pistiolis, have secured the construction of 10 modern MR tankers. The announcement by Top Ships indicates that they will acquire 100% of the shares in nine special purpose companies (SPVs) located in the Marshall Islands, which are linked to contracts for constructing nine medium-range tankers, each with a deadweight tonnage of 47,499 dwt, at the Chinese shipyard Guangzhou Shipyard International. The delivery of these vessels is scheduled for 2028 and 2029.
