Nine Suezmax Tankers Ordered by Dynacom
Dynacom Tankers Management has ordered nine new Suezmax tankers from the Chinese shipyard Hengli Heavy Industry, further strengthening its position in the international tanker market.
Dynacom Tankers Management, owned by George Prokopiou, has made a significant move in the global tanker market by placing an order for nine new Suezmax tankers, each with a capacity of 158,000 deadweight tons (dwt), at the Hengli Heavy Industry shipyard in China. With this order, the company's total orderbook has now surpassed 40 vessels, which indicates a robust expansion strategy amidst fluctuating market conditions.
Since 2022, Prokopiou has significantly built his fleet, reportedly amassing over 120 newly built ships, including LR1 and LR2 tankers, Kamsarmax bulkers, LNG carriers, VLCCs, and Suezmax tankers. This diverse fleet highlights Dynacom's forward-thinking approach to shipping and its ability to adapt to market demands, potentially enhancing its competitiveness in an increasingly complex global shipping landscape.
Additionally, there are indications that Dynacom is considering further expansion with a potential order for up to 12 very large crude carriers (VLCCs) valued at approximately $1.4 billion, which would be placed at the Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding yard in China, contingent on the approval for constructing a new large dry dock. This future order could signify Dynacom's intent to scale up its operations in line with projected growth in global oil shipping demands.
