Roxana Shipping: Purchased MR tanker 50,000 dwt

Roxana Shipping has acquired a 50,000 dwt MR tanker, enhancing its presence in the product tanker market.

Roxana Shipping, led by Managing Director Takis Koutris, has reportedly purchased an MR-type oil tanker built in 2020 with a deadweight tonnage of 50,000. The vessel, formerly known as "Tranquility," has been renamed "Malbec Horizon." This acquisition reinforces Roxana Shipping's footprint in the product tanker sector, which is experiencing strong demand for modern capacity.

The company, as stated on its official website, manages a fleet that includes 12 MR, LR, and Chems tankers—specifically five MR, five LR, and two Chems vessels. The strategic expansion through the purchase of the new tanker aims to leverage the value of newer ships during a time when the market for modern tankers remains robust. This move aligns with the company’s goal of enhancing its operations in oil products and chemical transport.

Given the current global demand for shipping capacity and the competitive nature of the maritime industry, Roxana Shipping's decision to invest in newer vessels is indicative of its strategy to adapt and grow amidst evolving market conditions. Such investments are crucial for maintaining a diversified fleet and ensuring the company's relevance in a challenging economic environment.
