A person has died in a fire in the Krāslava region
A fire in a residential building in Krāslava resulted in the death of an individual, as reported by the State Fire and Rescue Service of Latvia (VUGD).
Early on February 24, a fatal fire occurred in a single-story house in the Krāslava region, where a person was found deceased by the State Fire and Rescue Service of Latvia (VUGD) during their firefighting efforts. The fire was reported at 7:11 AM, involving a 120 square meter residential building, along with a vehicle and an electricity pole nearby.
Shortly after, at around 2 PM, VUGD received a call about another incident on Latgales Street in Riga, where an electric kettle and stove ignited in an apartment on the first floor of a five-story building. Firefighters managed to rescue a person from this site, highlighting the ongoing risks associated with electrical appliances in homes.
In the past 24 hours, VUGD attended to 36 calls, which included eight for fire extinguishing, 16 for rescue operations, and 12 were false alarms. This reflects the busy nature of the emergency services in Latvia and the critical need for safety measures in residential areas.
