Unemployment in Pará Falls 21% in One Year, Ending 2025 with 234,000 Unemployed, Says Dieese/PA
The unemployment rate in Pará decreased by 21% by the end of 2025, according to a report from Dieese/PA.
The state of Pará has seen a significant reduction in unemployment, with numbers dropping from 296,000 unemployed individuals at the end of 2024 to 234,000 by the close of 2025. This 21% decrease reflects a notable improvement in the labor market, as highlighted by a study conducted by Dieese/PA, based on data from the Continuous National Household Sample Survey (PNAD) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The unemployment rate is now reported at 5.8%, which is a decrease of 1.4 percentage points compared to the same time the previous year and also down 0.6 percentage points from the previous quarter.
This positive trend aligns the unemployment rate in Pará with the average in the Northern region of Brazil, also recorded at 5.8%. Furthermore, the state is nearing the national average unemployment rate of 5.1%, showing an overall decline in employment challenges across the country. Nationally, Brazil has seen a 0.5 percentage point decrease from the previous quarter's rate of 5.6% and a more significant decline of 1.1 percentage points from the end of 2024 when the rate stood at 6.2%.
Dieese/PA's analysis suggests that these figures indicate a consistent improvement in the job market within Pará. This trend could have various positive implications for the economy, providing more opportunities for employment and potentially contributing to a decrease in poverty levels in the region. As the labor market continues to recover, this may also encourage further investment and development in Pará's economic landscape, fostering growth and stability in the coming years.
