Unemployment in Amapá drops to 7.9% in 2025, reaching the lowest level since 2012

In 2025, Amapá recorded a 7.9% unemployment rate, the lowest since 2012, indicating a positive trend in job availability in the region.

Amapá finished the year 2025 with its lowest recorded unemployment rate since the beginning of the Continuous National Household Sample Survey (PNAD Contínua) series in 2012, registering at 7.9%. This marks a notable reduction from the previous year's rate of 8.3%, which had itself been the lowest at that time. The improvement in the unemployment figures highlights a continued national trend toward decreasing unemployment across Brazil, shaped by various economic factors and government policies aimed at enhancing job growth.

The data was released on Friday, December 20, by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) and reveals that Brazil's nationwide annual unemployment rate also fell from 6.6% in 2024 to 5.6% in 2025, marking another historic low. A total of 19 states in Brazil, including Amapá, recorded their lowest unemployment rates since 2012, exemplifying a broader economic recovery and the positive impact of measures taken by the government to stimulate employment and reduce disemployment.

Among the states with significant decreases in unemployment, Bahia reported 8.7%, Amazonas 8.4%, and Rio Grande do Norte 8.1%. This trend not only reflects recovery from previous economic downturns but also indicates that workforce development programs and investments in local economies are starting to take effect, providing a better overall economic outlook for the region and enhancing job opportunities for residents.
