More than 340 kg of drugs are seized inside a boat during an operation in the interior of Acre
Over 340 kg of drugs, primarily skunk and cocaine, were seized in Xapuri, Acre, during an integrated security operation.
An integrated security operation led to the seizure of 341 kilograms of drugs on the night of Sunday, October 22, in Xapuri, located in the interior of Acre, Brazil. Among the confiscated substances, approximately 336 kilograms were identified as skunk, a potent form of cannabis, while the remaining 5 kilograms were identified as cocaine hydrochloride. A man was arrested during the operation, and a 17-year-old Bolivian girl was taken into custody, indicating the involvement of both in drug trafficking activities.
The seizure occurred while security forces were conducting patrols in the rural area near the Acre River. Upon inspecting a boat, authorities discovered the drugs hidden inside. Investigations suggest that the couple might have been transporting the narcotics from Peru into Brazil via the border region, highlighting the ongoing drug trafficking challenges in the area. This operation underscores the collaborative efforts of Brazilian security forces to combat drug-related crimes along the border.
According to Colonel Assis dos Santos, commander of the Special Operations Group on the Border (Gefron), the investigation had been underway before the Carnival season, demonstrating proactive measures taken by authorities. The cross-sharing of information among security teams played a crucial role in the successful apprehension of the drugs, reflecting a focused effort to address the prevalent drug trafficking issues affecting the region. Such operations are vital for maintaining public safety and disrupting criminal networks operating in border areas.
