Two men were arrested in Acre, Brazil, for transporting over 630 kg of drugs during a combined security operation.

A significant operation conducted by security forces in Plácido de Castro, Acre, led to the arrest of two men and the seizure of 634.2 kg of marijuana along with 500 grams of hashish. This operation took place on Friday, October 6, and was part of a routine patrol in rural areas identified as high-risk for drug trafficking activities. Both suspects, aged 47 and 40, were caught transporting the drugs in two vehicles, highlighting the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in the region.

The Grupo Especial de Operações em Fronteira (Gefron), an elite task force, reported that the seized drugs were transported using unregistered vehicles, which have become a common tactic among traffickers attempting to evade law enforcement. Following their arrest, the two men, along with the confiscated drugs and vehicles, were handed over to the Federal Police, who will be in charge of further legal proceedings and investigating the broader trafficking network.

This joint operation involved multiple agencies, including the State Secretariat of Justice and Public Security (Sejusp) and the Federal Police of Acre (PF-AC), showcasing collaborative efforts to address drug trafficking in Brazil's northern states. The operation's success reflects the ongoing commitment to reducing drug-related crime in Acre, but it also highlights the persistent challenges faced by authorities in curbing such activities in remote regions of the country.
