Estonian weightlifters returned from European University Championships with medals

Estonian weightlifters Chris Matsiselts and Erik Bairamov achieved medal success at the European University Championships in France.

Two Estonian weightlifters, Chris Matsiselts and Erik Bairamov, returned from the European University Championships in France with medals in classical weightlifting. Both athletes delivered strong performances, earning medals both in individual categories and in the overall standings. Matsiselts, representing the University of Tartu, competed in the men's under 105 kg category. He achieved an impressive squat of 257.5 kg, and his performance in the bench press was particularly notable as the competition intensified. In choosing 194.5 kg for his second attempt, Matsiselts set a new championship record, successfully lifting the weight. Although one competitor later surpassed this with a slight increase, they failed to register an overall total due to a failed deadlift attempt, leaving the championship record at Matsiselts' name and allowing him to earn a significant medal.
