Estonian powerlifter became European champion with a record performance

Estonian powerlifter Margus Silbaum won first place and set multiple records at the European Masters Championships in Oulu.

At the European Masters Championships held in Oulu, Estonia's Margus Silbaum delivered an outstanding performance, securing first place in both his weight category and overall in the M2 age group (50+). This year marks Silbaum's 50th birthday, and he showed remarkable skill by achieving personal bests and breaking records.

In the squat competition, he successfully lifted 280 kg and then 293 kg, with the latter establishing a new M2 European record. Silbaum's efforts did not go unnoticed as he also set a new record for M1 age group (40+) during this attempt. He further demonstrated his prowess by winning a gold medal in the deadlift category after completing lifts of 295 kg, 310.5 kg, and a record-breaking 314.5 kg. Each successful lift contributed to establishing new world records for the M2 age group.

Additionally, Silbaum earned a silver medal in the bench press, successfully lifting 162.75 kg, 167.5 kg, and 170 kg at the competition. His performance represents not only personal achievement but also showcases Estonia's strength in powerlifting on an international stage, further solidifying Silbaum's legacy within the sport as he competes in a significantly competitive arena.
