Two Estonian judokas reached the podium in the European Cup stage

Estonian judokas achieved notable placements in a European Cup event held in Latvia, with one securing a silver and another a bronze medal.

During a weekend competition in Tbilisi and Riga, Estonian judokas showcased their talents, with Klen-Kristofer finishing 9th in the Tbilisi Grand Slam. His performance marks a solid start to the year, despite a narrow defeat in the second round against Uzbek competitor Nurbek Murtozoev after defeating Kazakhstani Barak Arkabayd. In Riga, a total of 13 Estonian judokas competed, yielding one silver and one bronze medal. Kabriel Kirna excelled in the +100 kg category, advancing past the first round and defeating Brit James Weller-Henry in the next round. However, he fell to Ukrainian judoka Fedir JaroΕ‘enko in the final after a tense match that went into overtime, highlighting the competitive nature of his discipline.

Jakob Vares also had a positive outing in the -100 kg category, moving forward automatically due to an opponent's withdrawal and securing victory over Brit Calder Jaden. The promising performances of these athletes illustrate the growing prowess of Estonian judo on the European stage, paving the way for future competitions and inspiring upcoming athletes in the sport.
