Brought Hydroponic Marijuana Hidden in a Photo Frame from Bangkok, Arrested at Bengaluru Airport
Custom officials at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport have arrested a passenger from Bangkok for attempting to smuggle a large quantity of hydroponic marijuana hidden in a photo frame.
At Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, Customs officials have uncovered a drug smuggling case involving a passenger arriving from Bangkok. They seized approximately 1.125 kilograms of hydroponic marijuana, which has an estimated international market value of around 39.37 lakh rupees. This discovery was made during routine checks at the airport, raising questions about the vigilance of security agencies operating in the area.
The investigation revealed that the accused passenger had cunningly concealed the drugs within a photo frame, which was packed inside their luggage bag to avoid suspicion during security checks. The smuggler hoped this tactic would allow them to bypass the airport's security and scanning procedures. However, the keen observations of the Customs officials thwarted the entire plan, leading to the discovery of the hidden drugs.
Following an initial suspicion regarding the luggage, the officials decided to break open the photo frame, which ultimately led to the discovery of the hydroponic marijuana. This incident has reignited discussions regarding the effectiveness of safety measures and the ongoing drug trafficking issues at airports in India, emphasizing the need for continued vigilance and enhanced security protocols to combat such illegal activities.
