Madis Mihkels secured sixth place in the concluding stage of the UAE Tour, alongside commendable placements throughout the event.
Madis Mihkels, representing EF Education - EasyPost, completed the final stage of the UAE Tour (UCI 2.UWT) on a high note, finishing sixth in the intense competition. The final stage, a challenging 149-kilometer route, saw Italian cyclist Jonathan Milan from Lidl - Trek take the top spot with a time of 2:56.48, followed closely by a group of elite cyclists including Erlend Blikra and Sam Welsford in a large group finish.
Over the seven stages of the tour, Mihkels showcased his competitive spirit by making it into the top ten on two occasions, including his notable sixth-place finish on Sunday and a ninth place on the fifth stage earlier that week. Despite finishing in 85th position overall with a time deficit of +31.29, Mihkels distinguished himself in the youth category by securing 30th place and receiving a white jersey as acknowledgment of his potential as a young cyclist.
The overall victory of the tour was claimed by Mexican cyclist Isaac del Toro of UAE Team Emirates-XRG, who edged out Italian rider Antonio Tiberi by a mere 20 seconds, with Australian Luke Plapp finishing in third place. This event highlights the emerging talents within cycling and the competitive landscape of the UCI tours, where Mihkels' performance indicates a promising future as he continues to develop his career in the sport.
