Three people injured in accidents on Saturday

Three individuals sustained injuries in traffic accidents in Latvia on Saturday, as reported by the State Police.

On Saturday, traffic incidents in Latvia resulted in injuries to three individuals, according to information from the State Police. Throughout the day, a total of 118 traffic accidents were recorded; in two of these, three people were injured. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported in any of these incidents, highlighting a relative safety during the weekend despite the number of accidents.

In addition to the injuries, the police reported that five drunk drivers were apprehended over the course of the day. Of these, three were caught in the Zemgale region, while one was detected in both the Latgale and Riga regions. Legal actions were taken against two of the drunk drivers, and one vehicle was confiscated as part of the enforcement of traffic laws. This ongoing effort to address drunk driving has become increasingly important in maintaining road safety.

The State Police also indicated that a total of 542 traffic rule violations were observed on Saturday, with 233 of these related specifically to speeding. This underscores the persistent issues surrounding traffic safety and the enforcement needed to mitigate these risks. With increased monitoring and enforcement, authorities aim to reduce the incidence of accidents and improve overall road safety in Latvia.
