Oswaldo Guayasamín Avenue enters a new rehabilitation phase: these alternate routes will be available for drivers until April
The rehabilitation of Oswaldo Guayasamín Avenue in Cumbayá, Ecuador, begins on February 23, with alternate routes for drivers planned until mid-April.
The Oswaldo Guayasamín Avenue, located between Las Bañistas roundabout and Pampite Avenue in Cumbayá, is set to undergo a new phase of rehabilitation starting February 23. Authorities indicate that this project, which will last for 38 days, aims to improve access for residents, workers, and drivers in the northwestern Quito area. During this period, the avenue will experience various closures to facilitate construction, particularly affecting daily commuters in the region.
The city authorities have scheduled extended work hours over weekends and holidays to expedite the rehabilitation process. Initially, from February 23 to March 14, one section will see the closure of the lane from Cumbayá towards Quito at the Plaza Cumbayá area. To accommodate traffic during this phase, drivers will be directed to use alternate routes through Diego Robles Street and Pampite Avenue.
Following this initial segment, a second section will be closed from March 15 to April 4, reversing the direction of traffic blockage from Quito to Cumbayá. The municipality has already identified alternate routes to alleviate congestion, including Avenida de Los Conquistadores. These improvements are expected to significantly enhance the flow of traffic and accessibility for various travelers in the region, promoting a more efficient transportation network to and from Quito's suburbs.
