The Delhi government's state naming authority, presided over by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has announced changes to the names of nine metro stations in the capital. Out of a total of 21 proposals considered, 12 names were retained as they were, while seven underwent modifications and two were completely renamed. Significant changes include North Pitampura being renamed Haiderpur Village and Pitampura being renamed Madhuban Chowk, aiming to enhance local identity in these areas.

According to reports, the renamed stations include modifications to existing names such as Northern Pitampura-Prashant Vihar (formerly Prashant Vihar), Jagatpur-Wazirabad (formerly Jagatpur), and others. The rationale behind these changes, as stated by the government, is centered on acknowledging and reinforcing local significance and cultural identity through the renaming process. The decision has been framed as a means to better reflect the communities these metro stations serve.
