Travel from Delhi to Greater Noida will be easier, new metro route approved
The Indian central cabinet has approved a new metro corridor from Noida Sector-142 to Botanical Garden, aiming to enhance connectivity between Delhi and Greater Noida.
The Indian central cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given the green light for an 11.56-kilometer-long metro corridor linking Noida Metro’s Sector-142 to the Botanical Garden. This new corridor will feature eight elevated stations and marks a significant extension of the metro network, bringing the total stretch of Noida and Greater Noida's metro system to 61.62 kilometers, making it the largest expansion to date. The project is expected to significantly impact the city's connectivity, traffic management, and economic activities in the region.
This new route is particularly noteworthy for the convenience it will offer to commuters traveling from Delhi to Greater Noida. Currently, passengers have to rely on interchanges at Sector-51 or travel by road to reach Greater Noida, but once the new line is operational, they will be able to alight at the Botanical Garden station and travel seamlessly to Sector-142. This improvement means that commuters can easily access Greater Noida by interchanging only once on the Blue Line or Magenta Line of the Delhi Metro, greatly simplifying their journey.
The addition of this metro corridor not only highlights the ongoing efforts to bolster public transport infrastructure in the National Capital Region but also promises to enhance the overall quality of life for residents by reducing travel times and traffic congestion. As the new metro line progresses, it will serve as a vital component in promoting economic activities and ease of travel between these densely populated areas of northern India.
