Delhi Receives a Big Gift on Women's Day, PM Modi Inaugurates Metro Corridor
On International Women's Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated two new Metro corridors in Delhi, aimed at enhancing connectivity and benefiting various local areas.
On the occasion of International Women's Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a significant infrastructure development for Delhi, involving an investment of ₹33,500 crores. During this event, he inaugurated and laid the foundation for several development projects. Notably, he presented keys to women allottees at the GPRA Type-5 quarters located in Sarojini Nagar, reinforcing the importance of women in urban development initiatives.
The inaugurated Delhi Metro corridors include the Majlis Park-Maujpur Babarpur corridor, approximately 12.3 kilometers long on the Pink Line, and the 9.9 kilometer long Dipali Chowk-Majlis Park corridor on the Magenta Line, with a total estimated cost of ₹18,300 crores. This expansion is expected to enhance the connectivity of various neighborhoods such as Burari, Jagatpur-Wazirabad, Khajuri Khas, Bhajanpura, Yamuna Vihar, Madhuban Chowk, Haiderpur Badli Mor, Bhalswa, and Majlis Park, significantly reducing travel times for residents.
During the inauguration ceremony, PM Modi emphasized that the new metro sections will provide immense convenience for millions of commuters in the capital, particularly for the residents of East and North-East Delhi. This development not only signifies a commitment to improving public transport but also reflects the ongoing efforts to elevate women's presence and rights in urban settings. The expansion of metro connectivity is likely to encourage economic growth and improve the quality of life in these areas, thereby aligning with broader urban development goals in the country.
