Three group living homes will be established in Vilnius district
The Vilnius district plans to build three new group living homes in response to increasing demand, creating a total of 30 new spaces for residents with support needs.
In response to the growing need for group living homes in the Vilnius district, the local municipality announced a project to establish three new facilities. Mayor Robertas Duchnevičius emphasized that the initiative aims not only to increase capacity but also to ensure high-quality services for residents, who will receive support in a safe, modern, and appropriately designed environment. Each home is expected to accommodate ten individuals, totaling 30 new spots in the community.
The project will utilize two plots of land owned by the municipality: one located in Parudaminio village on Mokyklos Street and the other in Karklinai village on Aukštoji Street. Existing dilapidated buildings on these sites will be demolished to make way for new constructions, which will meet accessibility standards necessary for individuals with disabilities. This renovation will ensure that the new homes are equipped with ramps, designated parking spaces, and accessible movement zones.
Additionally, the third facility will be located in Visalaukė village at Jaunimo Street, undergoing a capital renovation to be adapted for group living activities. The municipality's commitment to creating these homes reflects a broader effort to improve community support systems for individuals with disabilities and to provide a nurturing living environment that fosters independence and inclusive living arrangements.
