The Vilnius District Municipality is taking proactive steps to address the growing need for group living facilities for individuals with disabilities by planning to establish three new residences in various locations within the district. Mayor Robert Duchnevičius emphasized the importance of distributing these facilities evenly throughout the district to ensure that assistance reaches residents in close proximity to their daily environments. This initiative aims to provide more living spaces while also guaranteeing high-quality services in a safe and modern setting.

The proposed project will create a total of 30 new places, with each of the three group living houses accommodating 10 individuals. The municipality will utilize two plots of land it owns for this purpose, one located on Mokyklos Street in Marijampolis and another on Aukštoji Street in Karklėnai. The existing decrepit buildings on these sites will be demolished and replaced with new structures specifically designed for group living activities, ensuring that the new homes meet the needs of the residents.

In addition to the two primary locations, a third group living house will be constructed at Jaunimo Street in Visalaukė, where part of the existing building will undergo major renovations. This project reflects the municipality's commitment to enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities by providing suitable living environments that promote safety, comfort, and accessibility, thereby facilitating better integration into the community.
