Bobsled pilot Kalend's quartet wins 10th place in the four-man competition at the Olympic Games

Latvia's bobsled team, led by pilot Kalend, secured 10th place in the four-man event at the Milan-Cortina Olympics, with strong performances from competitors, particularly Johannes Lochner's German team.

At the Milan-Cortina Olympic Games, the Latvian bobsled team, piloted by Kalend, finished in 10th place in the four-man event. The competition was intense, particularly from the German team led by two-time Olympic champion Johannes Lochner, who consistently increased his lead throughout the races. His impressive total time of 3 minutes and 38.14 seconds left little hope for his rivals.

In the race for the remaining medals, the Swiss team led by Vogt managed to create drama by overtaking German athlete Adam AmΓΌhr in the fourth heat, clinching the bronze medal for their squad. Vogt trailed Lochner by 1.07 seconds in the combined totals while Francesco Friedrich's team placed second, just 0.57 seconds behind Lochner's performance.

After the first day of competition, the Latvian team was 1.26 seconds behind Lochner and only 0.17 seconds away from the team of Austrian pilot Markus Treichler, who finished in 10th place. In an interview with Latvian Television before the races, Latvian team coach Cipulis expressed optimism about their performance and discussed strategies for the races ahead.
