Kalenda's four-man team takes tenth place after the first run of the Olympic Games
Latvia's four-man bobsleigh team, led by pilot Jēkabs Kalenda, currently stands in tenth place after the first run at the Milan and Cortina Olympic Games.
Latvia's four-man bobsleigh crew, piloted by Jēkabs Kalenda, has secured a tenth place position following the initial run at the Milan and Cortina Olympic Games. The second run is scheduled for 1 PM, with two additional runs taking place in Cortina d'Ampezzo on Sunday. The Olympic Games are broadcast live on channel LTV7.
In the first run, Germany's four-man crew, led by Johannes Lohner, claimed the fastest time with a new track record of 53.91 seconds, winning gold in the two-man event. They were followed closely by another German team piloted by Francesco Friedrich, who trails the leaders by 0.39 seconds, and Great Britain's four-man team led by Brad Hall, who is 0.48 seconds behind the leader.
Kalenda, along with his push team members Matīss Miknis, Lauri Kaufman, and Mairis Kļava, completed the course in 54.64 seconds, which was 0.73 seconds slower than the leaders. Kalenda is the sole Latvian pilot competing at these Olympics, as Renārs Grantiņš was unable to compete due to a fall during training four years ago in the Beijing Olympics.
