LIVE: Bobsleigh pilot Kalenda's quartet will try to hold on to the top ten in their last run
Latvian bobsleigh pilot Kalenda is aiming to secure a top ten finish in his final run, currently trailing behind the leader Johannes Lochner by 1.26 seconds.
Latvian bobsleigh pilot Kalenda is in a competitive position as he enters his final run in the current series of races, currently positioned just 0.17 seconds behind Austria's Markus Treichl, who is holding the tenth spot. The leader, Johannes Lochner, has a significant edge, with a gold already in the doubles competitions and a steady performance throughout the runs, notably maintaining a lead of 0.48 seconds against his fiercest rival, Francesco Friedrich.
In an interview with Latvian Television, the coach of the Latvian team, Cipulis, shared insights into the team's condition as they approach the final day of competition at the Olympic Games. He acknowledged that the bobsledders may be feeling fatigued after a demanding series of events but expressed confidence that they would have enough energy for the crucial moments ahead.
Despite not improving his own start time or overall run performance in the third race, Kalenda benefited from the misfortunes of American pilot Christopher Horn, whose team dropped from the ninth to outside the top ten, allowing Kalenda to reclaim a position among the best competitors. The situation remains dynamic as updates continue to be added.
