ICPC tracks 4.61 billion Naira FG projects in Zamfara

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has reported that it has tracked 35 Federal Government projects totaling 4.61 billion Naira in Zamfara, Nigeria. Dr. Murtala Bankano, the Team Leader of the tracking exercise, emphasized the importance of this initiative during a press briefing held in Gusau. The main goal of this exercise is to guarantee value for money in the execution of government projects, ensuring that resources are effectively utilized to benefit the community.

The tracking initiative, known as the Constituency and Executive Project Tracking Initiative, is being carried out in collaboration with various stakeholders, including the Budget Office and the National Institute for Quantity Surveyors, among others. This collaborative effort aims to enhance transparency and accountability in government projects across Nigeria. Dr. Bankano noted that the tracked projects span six sectors, including Education, Health, Water Resources, Power, Empowerment, and Agriculture, highlighting the diverse areas being monitored for efficiency and effectiveness.

Bankano pointed out that many of the projects are at various stages of completion, indicating the necessity for vigilance in project oversight. He urged contractors to rectify any outstanding issues to ensure timely and satisfactory completion of the projects they are involved in. This effort by the ICPC underscores the ongoing commitment to combating corruption and ensuring that government spending delivers valuable outcomes for the citizens of Zamfara and the country at large.
