Buni approves N398m for Ramadan feeding in Yobe
The Governor of Yobe State has allocated over N398 million for the Ramadan feeding program to support vulnerable residents.
Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has approved a significant budget of over N398 million for the 2026 Ramadan feeding initiative aimed at assisting vulnerable residents during the holy month. The program will be executed by the state's Ministry of Religious Affairs and Ethical Re-Orientation, which is tasked with ensuring that the needs of the community are met spiritually and materially during Ramadan.
To enhance the program's reach, the number of feeding centers has been increased from 101 to 130, strategically spread across the 17 Local Government Areas of Yobe State. Each center is expected to serve Iftar meals to 100 individuals daily throughout the month of Ramadan, which means thousands of residents will benefit from this initiative. This increase in feeding sites reflects the state government's commitment to addressing food insecurity during such a significant religious period.
In terms of financial allocation, over N338 million is specifically designated for the purchase of rams and cooking condiments to facilitate effective feeding at the centers, while an additional N60 million is set aside to pay allowances to Muslim clerics conducting Tafsir sessions during Ramadan. The overall initiative demonstrates the state government's effort to bolster communal ties and support some of the most vulnerable populations in Yobe during the holy month of fasting and reflection.
