How the seizure of half a ton of drugs gave rise to operation against 'political nucleus' of CV in AM
The Amazonas Civil Police launched Operation 'Erga Omnes' against a group linked to Comando Vermelho suspected of drug trafficking and corruption in Manaus and several other states.
The Amazonas Civil Police initiated Operation "Erga Omnes" against a faction tied to Comando Vermelho, which is believed to be involved in drug trafficking, money laundering, and corruption. This operation, taking place in Manaus and six other states, comes in the wake of an investigation that was sparked by a significant drug bust in August 2025, where authorities seized over half a ton of drugs and firearms in the state capital.
On the day of the operation, police executed 14 arrest warrants, eight of which were carried out in Amazonas. Among those arrested was the former chief of staff for the mayor of Manaus and a court employee, which highlights the potential infiltration of organized crime into local politics. Additionally, nine other suspects are still at large, including Allan Kleber Bezerra Lima, who is identified as the leader of the suspected political wing of the organization.
The investigation leading to this operation started when authorities discovered 523 kilograms of skunk marijuana along with other military-grade arms and vehicles in the Educandos neighborhood of Manaus. This significant seizure not only underscored the drug problem in the region but also raised concerns about the relationships between organized crime and public officials, prompting further scrutiny of corruption in local governance.
