FSDA's Major Action Before Holi, Seizing Rotten Dates and Kachoris Worth 4.1 Million

Ahead of the festivals of Holi and Ramadan, the FSDA conducted extensive raids in Lucknow, seizing over ₹41 lakh worth of food products deemed unsafe for consumption.

In anticipation of the upcoming festivals of Holi and Ramadan, the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) in Lucknow has ramped up its efforts against adulteration by conducting thorough raids across the city. A significant operation seized food items valued at over ₹41 lakh, including 1320 kilograms of dates and 1418 kilograms of colored kachoris. This decisive action sends a clear message to those compromising public health in the name of festivities that no leniency will be tolerated this time.

Assistant Commissioner (Food) Vijay Pratap Singh emphasized the heightened scrutiny on various food items such as khoya, paneer, dairy products, edible oils, ghee, colored kachoris, snacks, and sweets. Samples from six different products have been collected and sent to a laboratory for analysis. Following the laboratory reports, strict legal action will likely be implemented under the Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006, ensuring that offenders face serious repercussions for their actions.

Additionally, the raids uncovered expired products, including 1320 kilograms of unsafe dates at the Himalayan Cold Storage facility on Ayodhya Road, which were immediately destroyed on-site. This highlights the collaboration between local authorities and the FSDA in prioritizing food safety, ensuring that the integrity of food products remains uncompromised, especially during crucial festive periods.
