The food safety department in Lucknow conducted extensive raids, seizing fake spices and khoya worth over 5.5 million INR and destroying expired sweets.

In a decisive move against food adulteration, the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) of Lucknow has launched a massive crackdown, conducting raids across various locations in the city. The operation led to the seizure of 10,415 kilograms of fake spices and khoya, valued at 55.91 lakh INR. During the raids, a substantial amount of expired sweets was also found and destroyed on-site to prevent any health hazards.

The raids occurred on a significant scale, with various locations like Aishbagh and Faizullaganj being targeted. Authorities discovered a total of 1,012 kilograms of expired sweets, which were deemed unsafe for consumption and promptly disposed of. In addition, 15 samples have been sealed and sent for laboratory testing to ensure the prosecution of those found responsible for the adulteration.

Moreover, the department is intensifying its efforts by monitoring cold storage facilities and cafes associated with the finds. Aishbagh’s Swaroop Cold Storage was discovered to contain 8,499 kilograms of black pepper and 378 kilograms of khoya, further proving the extent of the food safety issue in the area. This crackdown aims not only to curb adulteration but also to strengthen public health safety measures.
