Gallery: The Viljandi and Jõgevamaa Dance Day Captivated the Audience with Genuine Dances
The Viljandi and Jõgevamaa Dance Day featured performances from young dancers and was well attended, showcasing a mix of original works and traditional dances.
On February 8th, the county dance day took place at the Ugala Theatre, featuring performances from young dancers from Viljandi and Jõgevamaa who showcased their unique and original choreographies. The event attracted significant public interest and consisted of two concerts; the first half showcased performances from elementary and primary school students, while the evening featured dancers from elementary school through upper secondary age categories.
During the event, the dancers presented a blend of their own creations alongside selected pieces from the previous repertoire of Koolitants, highlighting the participants' creativity and commitment to the art of dance. Notable performers included members of the ETA Company, such as Juulius Vaiksoo, Marko Reitalu, Daniela Privis, and Mariann Onkel, who contributed to the overall success of the concerts.
The jury for the county dance days this year included choreographer, dancer, and musician Igor Lider, choreographer and dance teacher Kristiina Vilipõld, as well as freelance choreographer and dance teacher Daniela Privis. They are responsible for selecting performances that will be featured at the concluding concerts in Jõhvi Concert Hall in May, ensuring the future of dance in the region is highlighted and celebrated.
