Gallery: Saaremaa Dance Day Captivated with Dazzling Children's Dances

Hundreds of dance enthusiasts gathered in Kuressaare for the County Dance Day, showcasing creative children's dances and educational methodologies in choreography.

On February 8, a vibrant gathering took place at the Kuressaare Cultural Center, where hundreds of dance lovers from Saaremaa came together to participate in the regional Koolitants 2026 dance day. This event highlighted the rich tapestry of creative children's dances, demonstrating various educational methodologies and approaches to dance developed by teachers who worked with the children. Aneta Varts, the project manager and jury member of Koolitants, shared her impressions about the event, emphasizing the age-appropriate and inventive nature of the performances that allowed the children to feel confident on stage.

The performances at the Saaremaa Dance Day were not only a display of creativity but also a showcase of the energetic spirit embodied by the young dancers, especially those from Saaremaa High School. According to Varts, the vibrant energy brought by these students added an extra sparkle to the event, making it a pleasure to see the children perform with such enthusiasm and joy. The synergy of creative freedom and educational approach in these performances sets a strong tone for the development of young artists in the region.

The jury for the regional dance day consists of notable figures in choreography and dance, including Igor Lider, a choreographer, dancer, and musician, Kristiina Vilipõld, a choreographer and dance teacher, and Daniela Privis, a freelance choreographer and dance instructor. They will select the dances that will proceed to the final concerts held in May at the Jõhvi Concert Hall, thus shaping the future of dance in the region and providing a platform for these talented young performers.
