Gallery: School Dance Brings Diverse Dances to Võru Kandle Stage
A regional school dance event showcased various performances in Võru, Estonia, featuring young dancers interpreting different themes.
On February 7th, the regional school dance day took place at Võru Kandle, gathering dancers from Võru and Põlvamaa. The stage featured a variety of dances, often choreographed or inspired by the young dancers themselves, highlighting their creativity and ability to tell stories through movement. The performances incorporated both original creations and selections from previous repertoires, presenting a rich tapestry of themes that resonated with the audience.
Among the performers was the ETA Company, which included notable dancers such as Juulius Vaiksoo, Marko Reitalu, Daniela Privis, and Mariann Onkel. The event was judged by a panel of experts including choreographer and musician Igor Lider, choreographer and dance teacher Kristiina Vilipõld, and freelance choreographer and dance teacher Daniela Privis. Their role is critical as they will also be tasked with selecting the dances for the final concerts that will occur in May at the Jõhvi concert hall.
The variety displayed at the Võru and Põlvamaa regional dance day was noteworthy, with performances ranging from light-hearted and joyous themes to deeper, more meaningful topics. The event not only served as a platform for showcasing talent but also fostered a sense of community among young dancers, illustrating the powerful role of dance in storytelling and expression within the local culture.
