Drug Trafficking Under the Guise of a 'Family Trip', 7.5 Crore Heroin Seized, 3 Arrested
Three individuals were arrested for drug trafficking in Delhi, where heroin worth 7.5 crore INR was allegedly supplied under the pretense of a family trip.
In a surprising case of drug trafficking uncovered in Delhi, police discovered that a significant amount of heroin was being supplied under the guise of a family trip. The Delhi Police's Crime Branch managed to dismantle the racket operating along the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Bhopura border. The authorities arrested three individuals, including a couple, who were identified as 46-year-old Arif Khan, his 30-year-old wife Shikha Ali, and 32-year-old Jumma from the Bhalswa Dairy area. They were found in possession of 1.504 kg of heroin, with an estimated value of around 7.5 crore INR in the international market.
The Crime Branch received intelligence that Arif was transporting large quantities of heroin from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, intending to distribute it in different areas of Ghaziabad and Delhi. To avoid drawing suspicion, he traveled at night in a taxi with his wife, creating the impression of a typical family outing. This strategy appeared to be effective until the police acted upon the gathered intelligence and intercepted the suspects. The significant amount of heroin seized suggests a well-organized drug trafficking operation, which poses serious questions about drug abuse and trafficking networks in the region.
This incident highlights not only the persistent issue of drug trafficking in metropolitan areas like Delhi but also the innovative methods employed by traffickers to evade law enforcement. The police's proactive measures to infiltrate and disrupt such networks are necessary for maintaining public safety and addressing the drug menace. The ongoing investigation will likely reveal further connections to larger trafficking operations, indicating the need for a continued and collaborative effort among law enforcement agencies to tackle this growing problem.
