Unveiling of Drug Cartel Spanning 5 States, Psychotropic Drugs Worth 50 Crores Seized

Delhi police have successfully uncovered an interstate drug cartel operating across five states in India, seizing drugs worth over 50 crores.

Delhi police have made a significant breakthrough in the war against narcotics by uncovering an interstate drug cartel with operations spread across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Following the arrest of seven suspects, police recovered 48 kilograms of psychotropic substances, which are valued in the black market at over 50 crores. This operation was initiated after receiving crucial intelligence about a major shipment of psychotropic drugs being dispatched.

The police indicated that the cartel was involved in the procurement of raw materials used to manufacture restricted psychotropic drugs. These materials were then repackaged and distributed across various states without any medical prescriptions. The operation was notably initiated last year in September when police received specific leads regarding the impending shipment of these dangerous substances, prompting a meticulous investigation that led to the arrests.

During the investigation, Aniruddh Rai was arrested in the Lajpat Nagar area of Delhi, where approximately 2 kilograms of tramadol powder were found in his possession. Tramadol is categorized as an opioid drug, well-known under the NDPS Act for its stringent regulatory control. The successful dismantling of this network highlights the ongoing challenges posed by drug trafficking in India, necessitating continued vigilance and enforcement by law enforcement agencies to counteract the complexities of narcotics distribution.
