Glass finds its destination: Praia Grande spreads 15 collection points across the city
The city of Praia Grande in São Paulo has installed 15 glass disposal containers to enhance recycling efforts.
The city government of Praia Grande, located on the coast of São Paulo, has launched an initiative to promote glass recycling by installing 15 container points for glass disposal throughout the city. This initiative is part of the 'Vidro Vira Vidro' program, in collaboration with the company Massfix, aimed at reinforcing proper disposal practices and enhancing the reverse logistics chain for glass recycling, which is 100% reusable.
The containers have been strategically placed in proximity to bars and restaurants, where the use of glass containers is more prevalent. The decision about the placement of these collection points was made by the Secretary of Urban Services, aimed at making it more convenient for residents and visitors to dispose of their glass waste correctly. Alongside the installation, guidelines for what can and cannot be disposed of in these containers have been provided to educate the public.
Items permitted for disposal include general glass bottles, jars, perfume bottles, glasses, and even broken glass, while prohibited items include crystal, porcelain, ceramics, dishes, light bulbs, television screens, and other materials not suited for the containers. This initiative reflects a significant step towards environmental sustainability in Praia Grande, fostering a culture of recycling within the community and contributing positively to waste management efforts.
