Malta Welcomes Record Number of 4 Million Tourists. Poland's Rise to the Podium
Malta has achieved a record of over 4 million tourists in 2025, with a significant increase in Polish visitors contributing to this growth.
Malta has seen a significant surge in tourism, welcoming over 4 million visitors in 2025, marking a nearly 13% increase compared to the previous year. This milestone is a clear indicator of the country's growing appeal as a tourist destination, as reported by the Malta Tourism Organization (MOT). The economic impact is notable, with tourists spending approximately 3.9 billion euros, reflecting an 18% growth in revenue, and an average personal expenditure of around 971 euros per foreign visitor.
Particularly noteworthy is the increase in travelers from Poland, whose numbers exceeded initial estimates. While MOT anticipated about 300,000 Polish tourists for the year, the actual figure reached 386,600, representing an outstanding year-on-year growth of 46%. This influx from Poland has had a substantial economic impact, with Polish visitors contributing roughly 290 million euros to the Maltese economy, up 45% from 2024, and the Polish market's share of the Maltese tourism sector increasing by 2.2%.
The success of the Maltese tourism sector, bolstered by the increase in Polish visitors, positions Poland among the top contributors to Malta's tourism, essentially placing it on the 'podium.' This development hints at a strengthening relationship between Poland and Malta within the tourism sector, suggesting that Malta is becoming an increasingly favored destination for Polish tourists, which could carry positive implications for both nations' economic ties in the future.
