Record number of Polish tourists in Slovakia. "They come several times a year"
In 2025, Slovakia saw a record 390,800 Polish visitors, marking a significant increase in tourism from Poland, which is now one of the key markets for Slovak tourism.
In 2025, Slovakia welcomed a record 390,800 Polish tourists, representing a 20.7% increase from 2024 and a staggering 63% rise since 2019. This surge, reported by the Polish office of Slovakia Travel, indicates that Poland has become one of the main source markets for Slovak tourism, signifying a strong shift in tourism patterns in the region. The Slovak statistical office noted that Polish visitors now account for 16.1% of all foreign tourists in Slovakia, placing Poland second among the top source markets for the country.
A few years prior, Polish tourists comprised less than 10% of the foreign tourist demographic in Slovakia, whereas 1 in every 6 foreign visitors to the country is now Polish. This notable rise is not just reflected in the number of arrivals but also in the hotel accommodations, where Polish tourists booked nearly 929,000 nights in 2025, an increase of 23.1% from the previous year. This represented 16.5% of all overnight stays by foreign tourists, further emphasizing the growing popularity of Slovakia as a travel destination for Polish nationals.
The implications of this growth are significant for both Poland and Slovakia. For Slovakia, it represents an important boost to its tourism sector and local economy, while for Poland, it showcases a burgeoning trend of cross-border tourism. The increased visits may lead to enhanced travel and hospitality services in Slovakia, catering specifically to Polish tourists and potentially fostering stronger cultural and economic ties between the two nations.
