On February 13th, Latvia experienced a significant number of traffic incidents, with a total of 334 accidents reported by the State Police. Out of these incidents, 15 individuals sustained injuries, highlighting ongoing concerns about road safety in the region. Notably, among the injured were three pedestrians, indicating that vulnerable road users are also at risk during such accidents.

In addition to the accidents, law enforcement issued administrative decisions regarding 405 traffic violations. These included a staggering 64 cases of speeding and another 9 related to aggressive driving. The figures suggest a serious problem with adherence to traffic regulations among drivers in Latvia, indicating the need for enhanced roadway safety measures and public awareness campaigns.

Furthermore, authorities initiated three administrative processes for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and three criminal proceedings were begun as well. This underlines the persistent issue of impaired driving contributing to road accidents. The significant number of adverse events on Latvian roads serves as a wake-up call for both drivers and policymakers to jointly address and mitigate traffic risks.
