Mülla adds three centimeters to the Estonian record
Pole vaulter Marleen Mülla has extended her own Estonian record by three centimeters during a collegiate competition in the USA.
Marleen Mülla, a pole vaulter representing South Dakota University, has continued her remarkable form this season by adding three centimeters to her previously set Estonian record for women's pole vault. Just a week after breaking the record by clearing 4.60 meters, Mülla achieved a jump of 4.63 meters at the Nebraska Tune-Up meet, solidifying her status as a top contender in her sport. This achievement not only marks her personal and national milestone but also enhances her chances of qualifying for the upcoming World Indoor Championships in Torun, Poland, scheduled for March 20-22.
Mülla's recent performance placed her firmly on the international stage, with her new record jump recognized as the ninth-best mark globally for the current season. To qualify for the World Championships, athletes must reach a standard of 4.70 meters, and Mülla's incremental improvements have positioned her well in pursuit of this goal. The meet saw her stand out among competitors, as she was the only athlete to surpass the height of 4.38 meters before setting her national record.
The competition also featured strong performances from other athletes, with Arina Razina from Russia finishing second with a clearance of 4.23 meters, while Mülla’s teammate Eliza Aitken secured third place with a jump of 4.08 meters. This achievement not only reflects Mülla's dedication and training but also illustrates the growing prowess of Estonian athletes on the international stage, particularly in track and field events.
