Students participate in environmental education blitz in Alenquer
Students and environmental agents in Alenquer conducted an educational blitz to raise awareness about proper waste disposal.
Students from Dr. José Jorge Hage School participated in an environmental education blitz organized by the Department of the Environment, with support from the Department of Transit (DTA) in Alenquer, western Pará, on the 11th. The initiative aimed to raise public awareness about the negative impacts of improper disposal of solid waste. During the event, both drivers and pedestrians received guidance and informational materials highlighting the importance of correct waste disposal.
The students actively engaged with the community, emphasizing simple actions that can significantly contribute to urban cleanliness, environmental preservation, and public health. One of the key messages encouraged individuals not to litter on the streets or in rivers. Instead, waste should be placed in appropriate containers and set outside homes or businesses only close to the collection times to avoid creating a mess or attracting pests.
This initiative not only educates the public but also fosters a sense of responsibility among the younger generation regarding environmental issues. By involving students in such projects, the campaign seeks to instill lifelong habits that embrace sustainable practices, reflecting the broader challenges faced by communities in managing waste effectively and promoting a cleaner environment overall.
