This alert commenced at 9:16 AM on Thursday and will remain in effect until 11:59 PM on the same day, signaling a significant weather event that could impact a wide area. Rainfall of up to 100 millimeters is expected, accompanied by strong winds ranging from 60 to 100 km/h, which pose risks such as power outages, falling trees, and potential structural collapses.
Inmet has provided safety recommendations for the public to minimize risks during the severe weather conditions. The agency advises individuals to avoid taking shelter under trees during wind gusts, refrain from parking vehicles near power transmission towers and advertising billboards, and to avoid using electrical appliances that are plugged into outlets during the unstable weather. These precautions aim to safeguard the population from various dangers associated with high winds and heavy rain.
The alert also highlights the responsibility of citizens to prepare for potential emergencies by keeping contact details for local emergency services handy. The public can reach out to the Civil Defense at 199 and the Fire Department at 193 in case of emergencies. This warning underscores the importance of remaining vigilant and proactive during extreme weather situations, particularly in regions prone to such events.
