Inmet issues alert for heavy rain for more than 100 municipalities in Paraíba
The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain affecting 101 municipalities in Paraíba, Brazil, expected from Wednesday to Friday.
The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) has raised a yellow alert for heavy rainfall across 101 municipalities in the state of Paraíba, effective from 9:50 AM on Wednesday, November 11, until 11:59 PM on Friday, November 13. This warning indicates a potential for rainfalls between 20 to 30 millimeters per hour and wind gusts reaching up to 60 km/h, although the risk for power outages and fallen trees is considered low.
Earlier in the week, on Monday, November 9, Inmet had already extended ongoing warnings for heavy rainfall throughout the state, along with alerts for accumulated rainfall. At that time, a yellow alert was in place statewide while a more serious orange alert affected 57 municipalities. The warnings were valid until 11:59 PM on Tuesday, November 10, indicating ongoing concerns about weather conditions in the region.
Inmet has provided safety recommendations to the public to mitigate risks, advising against taking shelter under trees during wind gusts, not to park vehicles near transmission towers or billboards, and to follow other safety measures to protect themselves and their property. The meteorological updates are crucial for local residents to prepare for potential disruptions caused by the severe weather conditions over the coming days.
